Sphero SPRKs are clear robotic spheres that can be controlled via a smartphone or tablet connected with Bluetooth. The SPRKs are equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscope and can be programmed using a draw feature, block-based drag and drop, or with text through JavaScript.
The Sphero website has many free lesson plans, ideas, and activities for implementing these robotic devices into classroom instruction. The robot was built to accommodate a natural learning progression, making it appropriate for everyone from elementary audiences to sophisticated programmers. Besides teaching students how to use logic to design and write programs, the Shero SPRK helps students to build the 4Cs.
